In 2002, gamers discovered a mystery coin in Super Mario 64, which was located beneath the ground in the Tiny-Huge Island course. This seemingly unobtainable coin became nicknamed "The Impossible Coin", with fansite www.sm64.com speculating that its presence was an oversight by programmers. That didn't stop eager gamers trying to become the first to collect it. In June 2014 – 18 years after the game's June 1996 release – renowned glitch collector "pannenkoek2012" used a tool-assisted to collect "The Impossible Coin". He explained: "When you exit water from the side, there's a single frame when Mario is able to jump. I take advantage of this by jumping and kicking in order to move myself towards the coin and collect it."
