The Kakslauttanen Artic Resort is a hotel that offers individual rooms that are each constructed as glass domes. Located near the small town of Saariselka, positioned in the mountainous terrain of Finnish Lapland and over 250 km north of the Arctic Circle, at a latitude of 68.33, each of Kakslauttanen’s luxuriously heated "igloo" hotel rooms can accommodate up to four visitors at a time, as well providing private bathroom facilities. The specially installed thermal glass domes allow guests the chance to view both clear starry nights and the region’s approximately 200 annual appearances of the Northern Lights.
Another Finnish hotel, the Arctic Snow Hotel, offers a similar range of domed igloo rooms, but it is c. 200 km to the south.
