The largest cooking competition is 713 people and was achieved by Malaysia Bersatu Culinary Association (Malaysia) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 21 to 23 February 2023.
The largest cooking competition took place at the World Trade Centre in Kuala Lumpur. Contestants from 47 of the 65 competition categories were included in the final record total. The cuisines showcased in the competition included Malaysian, Chinese, Indian and Japanese gastronomy along with vegetarian/plant-based and patisserie categories. Competitors came from eleven countries to take part and 40 judges graded the entries.
There were separate competitions for student, home and professional chefs. Student chefs were recruited from culinary schools across Asia. Several thousand members of the public attended the event and were offered the completed dishes prepared for the competition.
The major aims of the competition were to promote local SE Asian cuisine and in particular to encourage new start-up chefs into the catering industry.
The overall winning country was India and the overall winning chef was Isamuddin Bin Mohamad Yusuf.
