"I Gotta Feeling" by The Black Eyed Peas (USA) has sold an estimated 15 million copies worldwide since its release in 2009. In the USA, the track has sold an unrivalled 8.7 million copies and spent 14 consecutive weeks at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Other digital singles with estimated worldwide sales of 14 million units or more include "Call Me Maybe" (Carly Rae Jepsen), "Rolling in the Deep" (Adele), "Poker Face" (Lady Gaga), "Blurred Lines" (Robin Thicke feat. T.I. & Pharrell), "TiK ToK" (Ke$ha) and "Moves Like Jagger" (Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera).

According to the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry's (IFPI) Digital Music Report 2010, "I Gotta Feeling" sold 7.1 million units in 2009 alone.

In May 2010, Billboard reported that "I Gotta Feeling" had become the biggest-selling digital single in the USA with 5.561 million copies sold, surpassing Flo Rida's "Low" (5.536 million). Today, with sales of 8.7 million units, it remains the USA's biggest-selling digital track and the country's third biggest-selling single of all time, behind Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" (25 million) and Elton John's "Something About the Way You Look Tonight"/"Candle in the Wind 1997" (8.839 million).

The Black Eyed Peas' previous single, "Boom Boom Pow", enjoyed a 12-week run at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 2009, after which "I Gotta Feeling" took over at No.1 for 14 weeks straight. This 26-week period represents the most consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 by one act.
