On 9 May 2013, a 25-year-old man rolled his car in an accident near St. Denis, Saskatchewan, Canada. In his confused state after the crash, he wandered away from his car a considerable distance. When ambulances and officers of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police arrived they could not find the injured man, and employed a drone to search the area from the air. Just before the drone was launched, the man telephoned via his mobile phone to say he was injured and cold and had no idea where he was. After a short while they found the man wandering in open country, and located him by matching their search area to the GPS tracker coordinates beamed from the live transmission from the drone. The drone found the man in a t-shirt and light clothing with no shoes with no protection from the elements.
The drone used was a Dragan Flyer X4-ES drone with heat-sensing equipment.
