In 1983, Wizard Video Games released a videogame for the Atari 2600 based on the 1974 horror film The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. In it, players assumed the role of the film's heinous villain Leatherface as they underwent a murder spree and avoided such obstacles as cow skulls. The game proved so controversial that very few shops stocked it, and it sold very little.
