The oldest person to travel from John-O'-Groats to Land's End on foot (male) is 76 years 144 days, achieved by Allan Knight (UK, b. 11 June 1945), as of 2 November 2021.


Allan has always enjoyed walking and being outdoors. During one of his sea walks he met a hiker who was walking the British Isles by coastal route and this inspired him to one day walk the length of the UK. He began training in January 2020 by completing long-distance walks and training on a rowing machine, with the aim of starting the journey in April 2021; however the attempt was delayed due to Covid-19 restrictions.

He was supported during the attempt by his wife Christina and completed the distance in just under two months.
