The largest gingerbread village per area measures 45.29 m² (487 ft² 72 in²) and was unveiled by El Dorado Royale by Karisma (Mexico), in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico, on 11 December 2015.

The largest gingerbread village is 14.72 meters long and 5.99 meters wide. There are 216 buildings over 27 blocks and took over 16 chefs to complete it. The village consists of elements of a Yucatan Peninsula town. There are exact replicas of the municipal palace, a train station, the military academy, palapa houses, the town plaza and the church of some of the towns in the region.
