Michel Dacher (Germany) climbed Lhotse in the Nepalese Himalayas without supplementary oxygen on 11 May 1977. At 8,516 m (27,939 ft), Lhotse the fourth-highest mountain in the world; it was first ascended in 1956, by a Swiss team.
