Most common block in Minecraft

As Air is neither solid nor indeed visible, it’s easy to forget that it counts as a block in Minecraft terms. What’s more, this eminently forgettable element is the most common block in the game. Air occupies every space not already filled by another block, and even spreads to adjacent areas. In fact, the only place you won’t find air is down in the Void – although, thanks to the mysteries of Minecraft, you won’t suffocate if you end up there. In the alpha/beta 1.3 release, players could count air blocks in their inventory.
