According to the Pokémon General Election, which was held in Japan throughout May and early June 2016, the least popular Pokémon is Simisear. The red fire-monkey won the fewest votes from the 562,386 Trainers and fans who were polled. The creature subsequently finished 720th in the rankings of all 720 Pokémon. The Pokémon Company responded with a marketing incentive to raise the character's profile, creating a dedicated Simisear business card and giving him away to select visitors at Pokémon Centres from 25 June to 16 July 2016.
The most popular Pokémon was Greninja, with 562,386 votes.
