The most siblings on an 8,000er simultaneously is four, a record shared by two families.

Nepalese brothers Pema Tharke Sherpa (b. 19 May 1961), Mingma Tsiri Sherpa (aka Mingma Tshering Sherpa, b. 1 August 1970), Thundu Sherpa (b. 18 February 1978) and Pasang Tenzing Sherpa (b. 1 October 1984) climbed Everest (8,848 m; 29,029 ft) together on 23 May 2007 via the South Col. The four siblings were born to Nima Tsiri Sherpa and Pema Futi Sherpa, who also have three more sons: Nim Temba Sherpa (aka Nima Temba Sherpa, b. 27 Jul 1959), Nima Gombu Sherpa (b. 28 January 1969) and Ang Tsiri Sherpa (aka Ang Chhiri Sherpa, b. 1 October 1958, d. 12 June 2006). All seven male siblings climbed Everest between 15 May 1992 (Nim Temba Sherpa) and 23 May 2007 (Pema Tharke Sherpa), setting a record for the Most siblings to have climbed Everest. The family also includes two daughters: Ngami Sherpa and Lakpa Futi Sherpa.

The record was equalled on 23 May 2018, when brothers Pemba Dorje Sherpa (Nepal, b. 27 April 1977), Phurba Tenjing (aka Tenzing) Sherpa (Nepal, b. 23 May 1988) and Phurba Thiley Sherpa (Nepal, b. 1 May 1995), and sister Dawa Diki Sherpa (Nepal, b. 21 September 1982), all born to Chhiring Nurbu Sherpa and Kimjung Sherpa (both Nepal), successfully climbed Everest via the South Col. This was Dawa Diki Sherpa’s first Everest climb, but the three brothers had first climbed Everest on 17 May 2000, 8 May 2007 and 22 May 2017 respectively. Three more brothers had also climbed Everest previously – Pemba Gyalzen Sherpa (Nepal, b. 17 March 1972) on 17 May 2000 (with brother Pemba Dorje Sherpa), Phurba (aka Furba) Thundu Sherpa (Nepal, b. 26 October 1973, d. 14 October 2006) on 18 May 2004 and Nima Gyalzen Sherpa (Nepal, b. 9 August 1985) on 2 June 2005, and so the seven siblings also laid claim to the record for Most siblings to have climbed Everest, a title that they now also share with Nima Tsiri Sherpa and Pema Futi Sherpa’s children. The family also includes sisters Pasang Futi Sherpa and Lhapa Diki Sherpa, and son Sonam Temba Sherpa.
