Most Emmy Awards won for Best Comedy Actress

Mary Tyler Moore and Candice Bergen (both USA) tie for the most Emmy awarded to a comedy actress in a lead role, with five wins each. All of Candice Bergen's Emmy wins came for her titular role in sitcom Murphy Brown, which aired from 1988 to 1998. Of Mary Tyler Moore's five Emmys as a lead comedy actress, four were for her work on the comedy series The Mary Tyler Moore Show, which ran from 1970 to 1977, and one for her appearance on The Dick Van Dyke Show, which ran from 1961 to 1966. Moore has been awarded seven Emmys in all. All three series were broadcast on CBS (USA).
