Peruse the most popular Minecraft videos on YouTube and you’ll mostly find a bunch of animated musical parodies. Hovering near the top of the list, however, is "Mario vs Minecraft", a three-minute live-action video that sees Minecraft’s iconic main character Steve battling with Nintendo’s Mario for possession of a 1-Up Mushroom. The special-effects-laden short film was created by YouTube channel Nukazooka and uploaded on 2 September 2014. As of 21 March 2017, the video has accumulated 58,892,533 views, making it the most viewed live-action fan film based on Minecraft.
