According to estimates published by Forbes on 14 January 2022, the highest-earning YouTube contributor of 2021 was MrBeast, aka Jimmy Donaldson (USA), best known for his stunt and prank videos, who reportedly earned $54 million (£40 million) that calendar year.

MrBeast earned almost twice that of the previous record holder – young YouTuber Ryan Kaji, who dropped to seventh place with an estimated 2021 income of $27 m (£20 m) – due to a drastic increase in viewership. Part of this meteoric rise was the result of a partnership with some 1,600 fast-food restaurants in the USA, which with the app MrBeast Burger enables his 100+ million subscribers to order MrBeast-branded meals.

In the same period, the highest-earning female YouTube contributor was eight-year-old Nastya, aka Anastasia Radzinskaya (Russia), best known for her "Like Nastya" channel featuring toy unboxing and music videos among others, who reportedly earned $28 m (£20.7 m), putting her in sixth place overall.
