Global figures for close-circuit television use are scant, but data extrapolated from a two-year study of CCTV use in Cheshire, UK, suggests that, as of 2011, there were 1,853,681 cameras nationwide. Factoring in urban and rural differences, this equals one camera for every 32 citizens.
