The earliest goal from kick-off scored by a substitute in a Premier League match was 5 mins 9 secs into the game, by Chris Smalling (UK) playing for Manchester United versus Burnley at Old Trafford in Manchester, England, UK, on 11 February 2015. Smalling entered the pitch after 4 mins 47 secs following an injury suffered by fellow defender Phil Jones. Just 22 seconds later he had headed in the first goal of the game and would incredibly score a second goal before half-time. Manchester United won the match 3-1.

Faster goals have been scored by substitutes in terms of the time elapsed from when they entered the pitch. Arsenal's Nicklas Bendtner needed just six seconds to score against Tottenham in December 2007.
