On 15 September 2016, EA reported that 13.2 million players had participated in the public beta for its World War I-set shooter Battlefield 1 (2016), which took place from 30 August to 8 September 2016. Those figures smashed the previous records held by fellow multiplayer heavyweights Overwatch and Star Wars Battlefront. One of the most anticipated games of the moment, Battlefield 1 had previously set a record for most "liked" videogame video on YouTube with its official reveal trailer, which was uploaded in May 2016. Publisher EA said that the number of beta players were more than double the British and Ottoman soldiers that were deployed in the Middle East during World War I. During the testing, 62.2 million kills were made by players mounted on a horse.
