Most consecutive steps climbed in an antique diving suit

On 5 October 2013, Lloyd Scott (UK) climbed 1,037 steps to the top of the 41-storey 30 St Mary Axe – aka The Gherkin – in the City of London, UK, wearing a 134-lb (60.7-kg) 1940s antique deep-sea diving suit complete with a copper helmet. The arduous climb, which helped Lloyd raise funds for the British Heart Foundation, took 2 hr 53 min to complete. The climb up the 180-m-tall (591-ft) Gherkin was made as part of the Britain's Personal Best campaign "to keep the spirit of 2012 alive", in reference to London's hosting of the Olympics. The former fireman, who fought myeloid leukaemia and was saved by a bone marrow transplant, took up charity work "to do something worthwhile with my life". By the end of his climb, Lloyd had lifted the equivalent of 66 tonnes (145,505 lb).
