Even 70 years after the end of World War II, the Simon Wiesental Centre – an international Jewish human rights organization – produces an Annual Status Report on the Worldwide Investigation and Prosecution of Nazi War Criminals. According to the latest report, published in April 2014, eight men were listed as still alive and wanted. All were in their nineties, but the oldest was Hans Lipschis (b. 7 November 1919), aged 94 at the time.
He had been arrested in May 2013 but was found unfit for trial as he was suffering from dementia.
