Digital Rights Management, or DRM, software is designed to prevent unauthorised copying and distribution of digital products, such as videogames. Polish game publisher CD Projekt RED have long criticised DRM technology as being counter-productive, alienating potential customers and failing to prevent videogame piracy and have backed up their assertions with their experience of selling Witcher 2 in both DRM and DRM-free versions.
