Fastest Glitched completion of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles

Playing as Knuckles, the rough and tumble echidna who can climb to places Sonic can't, gamer Adrian "HDL" Perez completed a single-segment run on Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles in just 22 min 40 sec on 11 December 2013. Adrian's run, which makes use of a number of glitches and tactical deaths to speed his progress, was completed on the combined Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic & Knuckles game, dubbed "Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles", for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles were originally conceived as a single game, however time and cartridge space restrictions forced the developers, Sonic Team, to release the two games separately.

However, the Sonic & Knuckles cartridge featured an extra slot at the top (dubbed "Lock-on Technology") which allowed the player to combine Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic & Knuckles into Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, as close as possible to the full game Sonic Team originally envisioned.

Sonic & Knuckles could also have Sonic 2 slotted into it, allowing gamers to play the second game as Knuckles.
