Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam (Bangladesh) claimed a hat-trick (three wickets in consecutive balls) on his One-Day International (ODI) debut while playing against Zimbabwe in a day/night match at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, Bangladesh, on 1 December 2014. Islam bowled Tinashe Panyangara with the final ball of the 27th over before trapping John Nyumbu lbw with the first ball of the 29th over and bowling Tendai Chatara with his next ball to complete his hat-trick and reduce the beleaguered tourists from 120 for 6 to 124 for 9.
Islam's first ODI wicket came with the first ball of the 27th over, when Zimbabwe's Solomon Mire was given out leg before wicket (lbw). After taking four wickets in eight balls (for no runs), Islam's bowling analysis on debut was 7-2-11-4 (7 overs, 2 maidens, 11 runs, 4 wickets), earning him the man of the match award.
After Islam's heroics, Bangladesh (130 for 5) beat Zimbabwe (128 all out) by five wickets to complete the host's whitewash of Zimbabwe in the five-match series.
"The hat-trick came against three tail-enders who were clueless about which way his simple, tossed-up left-arm spin was going to turn." - Mohammad Isam, ESPNcricinfo
Islam's three Zimbabwean victims were batting at Nos. 8, 9 and 10.
