Salto Angel, or Angel Falls in Bolivar State, Venezuela, has an uninterrupted sheer drop of 807 m (2,648 ft). After falling this distance, the water forms a column of fine mist. Salto Angel is also the tallest waterfall overall in the world, combining the single drop with sloped cascades and rapids downstream. The indigenous Pemon people call the waterfall Kerepakupai Merú or Parekupa Vena.
