US businessman and billionaire Donald Trump (said to be worth in the region of $7 bn) made $1.5 m per speech when he was asked to speak at the Real Estate Wealth Expos in 2006 and 2007. Trump only had to speak for an hour at a time to earn the fee, which places him some way ahead of the next two high earners for a single speech: Tony Blair (approximately $600,000) and former US President Bill Clinton ($150,000–$450,000). Mr Blair is thought to be the highest-earning public speaker in the world overall, given the number of invitations he accepts, but Mr Trump carries off the prize for the highest single payment.
