United Arab Emirates (UAE) captain Khurram Khan was 43 years 162 days old when he plundered 132 not out against Afghanistan at ICC Academy, Dubai, on 30 November 2014. Left-hander Khan's 138-ball innings featured 17 fours and a six and led the UAE to a six-wicket win in the second match of the series.
Khan (b. 21 June 1971) was almost four years older than Sanath Jayasuriya (Sri Lanka), who was 39 years 212 days old when he made 107 against India at Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla, Sri Lanka, on 28 January 2009.
Pakistan-born all-rounder Khan had an ODI batting average of 53.37 runs (10 innings) and a bowling average of 31.66 runs per wicket (nine innings) as of 15 December 2014. He made his ODI debut against India on 16 July 2004.
UAE were replying to Afghanistan's 280 for 8 when Khan reached his record-breaking ton in the 40th over. UAE won when they reached 282 for 4 with 10 balls of their 50 overs to spare. UAE went on to win the four-match series 3-1.
Trivia: In addition to captaining UAE at cricket, Khan works as a flight attendant with Emirates, the Dubai-based airline, and often has to balance jetlag and the rigours of being an international cricketer.
