The most medals won by any swimmer, male or female, at the FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) is 38 and was achieved by Ryan Lochte (USA) from 7 October 2004 to 7 December 2014.
Ryan Lochte has won 21 gold medals, 10 silver and seven bronze at the short-course World Championships. He has 14 individual gold medals and seven gold medals in relay events. In 2012 he collected a record eight medals at a single championship, something he equalled again in 2014 in Doha.
