Highest species diversity for frogs and toads

The highest species diversity for frogs and toads occurs in Santa Cecilia, within Ecuador's Amazon basin. A recent survey recorded 81 species within an area of rainforest measuring just over 1 hectare. As a noteworthy comparison, this same number of species is approximately equal to the total number of frog and toad species recorded throughout the entire USA. Once, a team of scientists working at Santa Cecilia collected no fewer than 50 different species of frog and toad there during a single evening.
