According to the D-Waste Association, the dump site with the overall highest amount of waste is Bantar Gebang in Bekasi, Indonesia. It contains 28,280,000–40,400,000 tonnes of waste – equivalent to approximately six times the weight of the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt.
The site has been active since 1989 and covers an area of 112 ha (1.12 km²).
