The fastest crossing of the North Channel by windsurfing/boardsailing is 1 hours 37 minutes 31 seconds by Will Verling (UK), who travelled from Portpatrick, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, to Donaghadee, County Down, Northern Ireland, on 16 September 2022.


The crossing was piloted by Pádraig Mallon of the Irish Long Distance Swimming Association (ILDSA) and Infinity Channel Swimming in the vessel Éigríoch.

As per ILDSA rules, the route must follow the Admiralty Chart 2198, Southern Part, which measures 18.6 nautical miles (21.5 miles; 35 kilometres).

Verling set out from Portpatrick Harbour at 12.47 p.m and arrived in Donaghadee Harbour at 2.24 p.m.
