The most Michelin-starred restaurants visited in 24 hours is 18 and was achieved by Eric Finkelstein (USA) in New York City, New York, USA, on 26 October 2022.

Eric lived in NYC very frugally for years, almost never eating at sit-down restaurants, let alone Michelin-starred restaurants. But when he moved out of NYC during the pandemic, he began to appreciate what food opportunities he had been missing all those years. When he temporarily moved back in 2021, he made a list of places to eat and made his way though the list, "this brought me joy" he told GWR. He also joined a food group, which is where he was told about this Guinness World Records title. "I loved the idea. It combined my loves of eating interesting food, working towards a checklist, and working towards something."

He planned for around 14 months, but did most of the prep in the final 3 months. Securing bookings was one of the most difficult parts, and he only received responses from 10 of the 80+ restaurants he contacted. 4 of those 10 then lost their star when Michelin announced their 2022 picks, 20 days before he had already scheduled the attempt!

When asked what his favourite meals he ate during the attempt were, Eric said it was a "3-way tie between the Fluke Crudo at Casa Mono (fresh with surprising waves of flavour), Duck Mortadella at Francie (the buttery bread practically melted in my mouth), and Everything Brioche at Red Paper Clip (satisfyingly soft, combined sweet and savory flavors)."

As for his favourite overall experience, "It's much easier for me to answer - that would be Noda."
