Sean Shannon (Canada) recited Hamlet's soliloquy `To be or not to be' (260 words) in a time of 23.8 seconds (655 words per minute) at Edinburgh on 30 August 1995. The record for the fastest recitation of Hamlets soliloquy used to be a separate category to the fastest talker but it was decided that two categories were not necessary and Hamlet's soliloquy should be used as the measure of speed talking.
