Most powerful laser
ELI-Nuclear Physics 10 Petawatt Laser
Romania (Magurele)

The most powerful lasers currently operational are a pair of 10-petawatt lasers located in the ELI-Nuclear Physics facility in Măgurele, Romania. The two lasers, which can be used in conjunction with each other to focus 20-petawatts of laser energy onto a target, were built as part of the European Union's Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI) research project. They were tested at 10 petawatts for the first time in March 2019.

There is another 10-petawatt laser, the L4 Aton, currently in the process of being commissioned at the ELI-Beamlines research facility in Dolní Břežany, Czech Republic. Work is underway at the Shanghai Superintense Ultrafast Laser Facility in China to build a system called the "Station of Extreme Light", a massive 100 petawatt laser that is planned to become operational in 2023.
