The longest Major League Baseball (MLB) postseason game lasted 18 innings and has occurred five times. It occurred twice in World Series play: when the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Boston Red Sox, 3-2, in Game Three of the 2018 World Series on 27 October 2018. The second instance also involved the Dodgers, this time defeating the Toronto Blue Jays (Canada) in Game Three of the 2025 World Series on 27 October 2025. The three other 18-inning postseason games were: the Houston Astros defeated the Seattle Mariners, 1-0, in Game Three of their American League Division Series on 15 October 2022; the San Francisco Giants defeated the Washington Nationals, 2-1, in Game Two of their National League Division Series on 4 October 2014; and the Houston Astros beat the Atlanta Braves, 7-6, in Game Four of the 2005 National League Division Series on 9 October 2005.
