In 2014, Brandon Finnegan (USA) became the first baseball player to appear in the College World Series and the MLB World Series in the same year. Finnegan pitched for Texas Christian University in the College World Series, and then was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the MLB draft, later appearing in two games of the 2014 World Series for the Royals.
