The most heat-tolerant multicellular animals are the tardigrades or water bears, a group of tiny, near-indestructible animals that are able to survive temperatures exceeding 150°C (302°F) and halt their metabolism for survival. Around 0.5 mm long, these invertebrates have survived in outer space and some have even survived the Sun's radiation.
