Marianna "Muffy" Davis (USA) won three road cycling gold medals at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London, UK, between 5 and 8 September. Marianna, who competes in the H2 class, won the individual time trial on 5 September, the individual road race on 7 September and the mixed team relay - alongside fellow Americans Matthew Updike and Oscar Sanchez - on 8 September. All three events took place at the Brands Hatch motor-racing circuit in Kent, UK. Marianna completed the individual time trial in 31 min 6.39 sec, the individual road race in 1 hr 41.34 min and the mixed team relay in 30 min 7 sec.

The H2 class is for athletes on handcycles with lower limb dysfunctions and limited stability.

Marianna, also a medal-winning sit-skier, was inducted into the National Disabled Skier Hall of Fame in 2012 after her performances at London 2012. Career achievements include becoming sit-ski world champion in the giant slalom in 2000, and winning three silver medals at the Paralympic Games in Salt Lake City, USA, in 2002.

Cycling has been a Summer Paralympic sport since 1984 (when there was just one event for women). Julie Cournoyer (Canada) won two road cycling gold medals in 1996, and Andrea Eskau (Germany) and Sarah Storey (UK) did the same in 2012 (when there was a total of 15 individual or mixed disciplines for women), but Davis was the first female to win three road cycling golds at a single Paralympic Games.
