From 15 to 17 July 2016, a total of 2,662 Super Smash Bros. for Wii U gamers competed at the 2016 EVO Championship Series at the Bally’s/Paris Las Vegas Casino, USA, making it the biggest contest of its kind as of 16 February 2017. Its title was won by Canadian Elliot “Ally” Carroza-Oyarce, who has been hailed as the best Mario player in Super Smash Bros.
