Most successful virtual-to-reality competition

The NISMO PlayStation GT Academy offers Gran Turismo players the chance to become a real-life elite racing driver for Nissan, under its motorsport arm NISMO. Since the Academy’s inception in 2008, there have been 5 million entries submitted from gamers hoping to take for the opportunity to drive real-life racing cars. The GT Academy originally started out as a pan-European competition but has now spread internationally, with the 2015 competition featuring more than 20 participating countries including Japan, India, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico, North Africa and Turkey.
