The fastest unsupported journey from the Geographic North Pole to land is 32 days, achieved by Torry Larsen and Rune Gjeldnes (both Norway) as part of their "Arctic Ocean 2000" expedition. They departed the North Pole on 2 May 2000 and arrived at Cape Discovery on Canada's Ellesmere Island on 3 June 2000.
Their full journey also represents the first and fastest unsupported crossing of the Arctic Ocean: the pair set out from the Siberian Severnaya Zemlya archipelago, Russia, on 15 February 2000 and reached Canada 109 days later.
