New South Wales (Australia) won the Sheffield Shield - Australia's premier first-class cricket competition - 45 times between between 1895–96 and 2007–08.
The Sheffield Shield is contested by teams from Australia's sis states: New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria (the second most successful team with 28 wins) and Western Australia.
New South Wales, based in Sydney, are nicknamed the SpeedBlitz Blues for the competition.
