Jhulan Goswami (India) retired from international cricket on 24 September 2022 with 255 One-Day International (ODI) wickets to her name. During the 204th and final match of her career, against England at Lord’s, Goswami became the first woman to bowl 10,000 deliveries in ODIs, reaching the landmark with the first ball of her 10th over as she bowed out with 2 for 30. During a career spanning 20 years 261 days, Goswami bowled 1,667.3 overs (10,005 balls), conceding 5,622 runs at an average of 22.04 runs per wicket.
Right-arm medium-pacer Goswami (b. 25 November 1982), who retired at the age of 39 years 303 days, made her ODI debut against England on 6 January 2002. Her best-ever bowling analysis was 6 for 31, against New Zealand on 5 July 2011. As of 24 September 2022, Goswami was 64 wickets ahead of South Africa’s Shabnim Ismail (191) and 75 wickets ahead of the retired Australian Cathryn Fitzpatrick (180) and West Indies’ Anisa Mohammed (180).
