Local people gathered to dance the ‘Chamarrita’ to traditional Portuguese music. The folk dance was controlled by the commander, Mario Silva, who called out the dance moves to ensure everyone danced the same synchronised moves for just over 5 minutes. They had to enter the dance floor (football stadium) in pairs and danced as couples. The dance was performed in concentric circles.
