In terms of volume, the largest waterfall is the Denmark Strait Cataract, which carries around 5 million m³ (176.5 million cu ft) of water per sec. The 3.5-km-high (2.17-mile) waterfall is located underwater in the Denmark Strait, which separates Greenland and Iceland. The Cataract is formed as cold, denser seawater drops from the Greenland Sea into the slightly warmer Irminger Sea.
