Although Sony discontinued production of the PlayStation 2 on 4 January 2013 after a 12-year run – one of the longest for any videogame console – it did not prevent Konami releasing Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 (Konami, 2013) on 7 November 2013. This became the 3,870th and final release for the PlayStation 2.
