The most powerful atom laser beams 40 million atoms per second, and was built by an international team based at the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser at the Foundation for Research and Technology (FORTH) in Crete, Greece, and published in the New Journal of Physics on 17 February 2014.
An 'atom laser' is an experimental device which produces a coherent beam of atoms, and could be used to test quantum theory, or to create 'atomic holograms'.
