A pair of size-6 ankle boots made with 4,738 g (167 oz) of gold and covered in 39,083 natural fancy coloured diamonds weighing 1,550 carats was unveiled by a leading Antwerp diamond company Diarough/UNI-Design and the Antwerp-based fashion house A. F. Vandevorst (Belgium) in December 2013. The boots were valued at $3.1 m (£1.93 m). The creation of the boots was part of an initiative to highlight the creative spirit of Antwerp. The Antwerp World Diamond Centre and the Flanders Fashion Institute joined forces with Diarough/UNI-Design and A. F. Vandevorst, the internationally respected Antwerp-based fashion house.

The boots were unveiled as part of Business of Design Week in Hong Kong (on 2–7 December 2013), which had a special focus on Belgium and its creative industries.
