Launched on 11 November 1966, the Gemini 12 (aka Gemini XII) mission was piloted by the renowned astronauts James A. Lovell Jr and Edwin E. “Buzz” Aldrin Jr. On 13 November 1966, at 15:34:00 UTC, Buzz Aldrin started the second of three spacewalks, a 2-hour 6-minute tethered spacewalk during which he took photos of the visible star fields, gathered a micro-meteorite collector and took the first “selfie” in open space.
