American sports camera manufacturer Go-Pro launched a 3D 1080p video camera system in April 2011. Called the 3D Hero, the system uses two 1080p video cameras synchronized in a single housing to produce true left-right images for 3D movies or pictures. Waterproof to 60 m (180 ft), the 3D HERO System can be worn on the body, mounted on gear and vehicles, and used as a handheld camera. The polycarbonate housing holds the two cameras fixed together and a synchronization cable plugs into the back of each camera, enabling these to function as a single camera. A single shutter button controls both cameras. At only 130 mm (5 in) in length, 62 mm (2.5 in) in height and 45 mm (1.8 in) in depth, this is the smallest 3D high-definition camera system available today. Could this be the perfect picture source for eventual printing to a 3D colour printer?
