Maurice Greene (USA) became the first athlete to win all three sprinting gold medals at a single IAAF Athletics World Championships by winning the 100 m, 200 m and 4 x 100 m relay in Seville, Spain, on 29 August 1999. No man had won the classic sprint double (100/200 m), let alone all three sprint medals at a single World Championships until Greene managed it. Greene's feat has since been matched by Tyson Gay (in 2007) and twice by Usain Bolt (in 2009 and 2013)
